I Dreamed a Dream

Dreams come in all shapes, sizes, and ages. Sometimes we reach a certain age and think our dreams are done. We missed the boat. Whatever cliche you want to use. But, sometimes we need to remember that dreams come true at any age. It is never too late to reach your dreams.

You read all the time about women who think they lost their chances to have a baby and suddenly they are pregnant at 40 something. You read about an artist or writer being "discovered" in their 70's or 80's or beyond. It can happen tomorrow, but not if you give up today.

Don't let your dreams die because you think life passed you by. Dreams are fragile but durable things. Strong enough to hold our every wish. Dreams come true every day. Sometimes we forget that.

And sometimes we have to be reminded of that fact:

The summer between the fourth and fifth grades, this bookworm started penning short stories with a dream of writing books some day. Then, as an adult, self-doubt moved in with a three-piece set of luggage. Tossing out that baggage took many, many years. Now, more than fifty years later, the dream comes true...but I had to do SOMETHING to make it come true. We have to work to reach for it. Great post, Jill,

Yes, Jill, dreams come true when we work hard to make them happen. Dream don't just materialize because you wish them. You have to grab them with sharp clutches called work and perseverance. My dream of being published came true. Now I work hard at selling.

Vonnie, so true. But assuming that writers are writing, the sky is the limit.

Mona, so true. But sometimes the first step - of believing that your dream can happen - is the hardest step.

Jill,
When I first read your title, I thought of "Les Mis" beautiful song--"I dreamed a dream". Great thoughts. Thanks for sharing.

Josie, I think that song Susan Boyle sings is from Les Mes, right? It brings tears to my eyes everytime I listen to it.
