Christmas in Florida

For many Christmas is synonym of snow, cold, a fire in the chimney; indoors decorated Christmas trees; evergreen wreaths and garlands; red ribbons to accent the Christmas look; twinkling lights decorating the doors and front yards; and a spicy hot punch; or hot chocolate to warm you up.
Yes that’s the Christmas I remember having when my children were growing, in school and in college. It was so cold outside, and so warm and cozy inside.
My present Christmas is so different. How do you celebrate Christmas in Florida? In church, nothing is changed, but all the rest is different. Our Christmas trees are often smaller. We decorate palm trees and take advantage of our clement weather. You can find us at the beach if the temperature is in the seventies.

My latest book, CHRISTMAS BABIES, is a heartwarming holiday story, set in South Florida.

Dedicated to her patients, the serious Dr. Madelyn Ramsay never had time for fun. An unexpected health problem jolts her into the realization that there’s more to life than just work. She longs to surrender to the magic of Christmas.

But can she handle the charming and secretive Dr. Nick Preston who carries his own package of disillusions?

Can she allow two newborn twins to worm their way into her heart?

CHRISTMAS BABIES is a bestseller at Amazon.

i can't imagine Christmas in Florida. I've always celebrated it in northern climates.

Santa in shorts?

Nope, Santa is still the same. Red suit long sleeves, longs pants, and his beard.LOL

Sounds okay to me! I don't decorate much anymore, but Christmas lights on homes and downtown still excite me. I do confess a decorated palm tree doesn't do much for me. Yes, Christmas Babies is a best seller, as it should be. It's a darling story with great characters, including babies Liana and Celia.
Thanks, Mona.

Thanks for stopping by Celia. I love our palm trees. I'm having fun again with Celia and Liana who are now one year old and swimming in the pool, actually floating in their ducks.

Folks in Georgia put lights on the azaleas in their yards. I only do a little bit of decorating - a wreath at the door, a tree in the living room. For me, Christmas is about friends and family and music.

I like your lighted palm trees, Very cool.

Hi Mona, your Christmas does sound different from ours up in the Sierra Mountains of California. The fun thing when the kids were still at home was going tree hunting. Then Ken started going out with a friend and even though I asked for a smaller tree, they always came home with one about 18 ft. One year he had to bring in the chain saw and cut a couple of feet off the tree. It was so tall it broke the stand and he threatened to tie it to the corners of the room. :)

Merry Christmas!
