Happy Mother’s Day, everyone!
How does your hair look today?
I’m sharing a hilarious Dave Barry account of his hair-styling adventures. Who said only women care about their hair? :)
Here it is. Hope you enjoy:
“I’ve been trying for more than forty years to get my hair to form a simple part, such as can be found on Al Gore, and Ken, the doll. Every morning after my shower, I attempt to style my hair with a brush and hair dryer. I cannot tell you how hilarious my hair thinks this is. You’re heard of “free-range” chicken? I have “free-range” hair. It laughs and dances in the blow-dryer breeze, humming “Born Free.” When I’m done, it looks the same as when I started. It is no closer to forming a part than Dom DeLuise is to winning the Olympic pole vault.”
Me again! Please leave a comment. How long does it take you to style your hair in the morning?

Um. Well, if I've just washed it, it takes a minute to comb it out. Sometimes in the winter, I spend 30 seconds blow-drying it.
If I haven't just washed it, I run my fingers through it -- if I remember to.
This is why I have as close to a wash-and-wear cut as I can stand. I really, really, really hate doing hair. Fortunately, I work mostly from home, so it really doesn't matter what my hair looks like.
My hair is long. After I wash it I comb it out, let it air dry, and run a brush through it. Maybe braid it, if I'm going to be active. Very low maintenance. My hubby says, "Hair is overrated." He sort of has a shiny head, if you get my meaning. :)
I brush it and slap a headband on. If at this time I have bangs, I may wear a clippie. I'm very much a wash and go hair kind of person.
Like the others, I do very little! The day I wash my hair I let it air dry some, than use the hair dryer. I bend at the waist, my stretching for the week and allow 3-5 minutes. If my long hair is really wet, it takes longer to finish the drying part. I grab something and make a low bun. If I leave the house, I run my fingers through the tangles, then brush my hair just before I go inside.
I brush my hair only when I go somewhere.
I SO feel your pain. When I was a child I had very curly hair, but as I matured it straightened and I was such a happy person with wavy, not curly hair. Then, I had cancer surgery and when I woke up my hair was curly, I mean frizzy around the head in a glow curly. It was short then so I decided to let it grow so I could pull it back and braid it...the cruely was, the hair over the ears doesn't grow. It remains the frizzy glow...but, in all, it is better than the alternative. My short curls are now a braid - ironically, the braid twists so it is stubbornly curling against all odds.
Aren't you glad you asked??
Barbara,
You must have super-nice hair. My hair is straight and sticks out if I don't style it. My dh has thick, black, wavy hair. He washes it and he's done.
LOL, Dawn, about your dh. My daughter has long hair. She washes it and is good to go.
Mary M.,
You're another fortunate gal. I must be the only one with hair that needs so much to get it to look fairly good.
Jill,
From your photo, your hair looks great. I like clips, too, as my hair loves to fall forward at the end of the day.
Paisley,
I'm sure your hair looks really nice. Thanks for sharing such an important part of yourself and your life. And, hurray for you!
You lucky girls, you never had to deal with frizzy hair like mine. Everytime I wash it, it takes at least thirty minutes to remove the tangle, straighten it and make it presentable. I add oilve oil cream, plus a special mousse, plus another oil, plus a special spray. I can cook a meal faster than I set my hair. If I let it natural after I swim in the ocean, you won't recognize me.
Josie,
My hair stylist has convinced me to embrace my natural cur. So now I do very little besides put about four different products in my hair and let it dry.:) AT last, I may have hair that is in style. You would never know it by all my photos with straightened hair.

Mona,
You have gorgeous hair. LOL! Very funny that you can cook a meal faster than you can style your hair. I used to have a perm---maybe I'll try one again.
Morgan,
I love your photo and your haircut. It's adorable. What are the 4 different products you use? I need them!
