Joanne--Dave Barry's take on "How do I look?"
Hi everyone,
It's the 8th of the month, so it's time for a Dave Barry chuckle. Here's his take on the classic woman's question: "How do I look?"
"If you are a man, at some point a woman will ask you how she looks. "How do I look?" she'll ask. You must be careful how you answer this question. The best technique is to form an honest yet sensitive opinion, then collapse on the floor with some kind of fatal seizure. Trust me, this is the easiest way out. Because you will never come up with the right answer."
OK, everyone, it's me again. Do you agree with his technique? :)

Dave's a very wise man.
Too funny!
Maybe honesty is not always the best policy.
I suspect he's right. Unless my husband answers, "You look great," I am hurt and (he says) sulky for a while. Now whether that is worth staging a collapse to avoid, I couldn't say.
I try really hard not to ask, but sometimes you just need to know. DH freezes. Then he always says, "Great." LOL!
Kim,
I agree. He's wise to say as little as possible. :)
Dawn,
Another question I've asked on numerous occasions: "Does this outfit make me look fat?" A wise husband answers very carefully, or takes the Dave Barry route.
Sometimes when you ask things like, "Does this outfit make me look fat?" What type of answer do you want? If I am hurrying to an event, and I do not want to change clothes--I phrase the question differently like, "This oufit isn't horribly heinous, is it?" Almost all men can answer this one correctly.
