Hi Everyone,
It's the 8th of the month, and I'm sharing a post from Dave Barry regarding holiday gift-giving and what men are thinking: (hint, they're not)
"Your standard man, at this point in the Christmas season, has purchased zero gifts. He has not yet gotten around to purchasing an acceptable gift for his wife for LAST Christmas. He did give her something for last year, but he could tell by her reaction to it that she had not been dreaming of getting an auto emergency kit, even though it was the deluxe model with booster cables AND an air compressor. Clearly this gift violated an important rule, but the man had no idea what this rule was, and his wife was too upset to tell him."
Me again: What is the worst Christmas gift that your husband/boyfriend ever gave you for Christmas? Mine was a vacuum cleaner. (Yes, really!)

Hi, Josie. Love Dave Barry. We laugh hardest at his comments because they are 3/4ths true! Alas, my husband and I have become practical and horribly indulgent...we buy gifts for ourselves all year long. I just bought a Sky Caddie...my DH helped me do the research on it, but I bought it and am happily using it now...and my DH loves it when I'm happy! Lately, most of our gifts are for both of us...I mean, my DH bought the parts for...and built a desalinator for our boat, to the tune of $4500. He builds it, we both drink the water and we both benefit from not having to find water in the isolated reaches of British Columbia. Gifting changes after 40 years of marriage, in a good way, I think!
My Ex was so cheap that when I wanted a laptop, he said it would be for the next 2 Christmases, birthdays and anniversaries. Seriously! He didn't think that should mean he would get me something small for those occasions.
My DH prefers surprising me during the year when I don't expect a gift. This years xmas gift is a BIG monitor sitting beside me on my desk. Great for editing. :)
Rolynn,
You lead such an exciting life. My DH and I do not do nearly as much as you. Fun and interesting gift, though.
MM,
Men! They still don't realize that women place as much value on the thought as the actual gift.
Dawn,
Sounds like you have a wonderful hubby. Surprise gifts all year long sounds good to me!
