1. I hate limp lettuce. My sister (a home economics teacher) told me to bathe the lettuce in ice water to crisp it up. The problem: sorting the ice out of the drained lettuce. Better: put the ice water in the bottom of your spinner and cut the lettuce in the strainer portion of the spinner. Set the strainer section into the ice bath, with the ice imprisoned below the strainer. When the lettuce is nice and crisp, lift the strainer out of the water, dump the water and spin!
2. I dislike seeing mascara smudges under/around the eyes. Waterproof mascara is the answer. The only answer.
3. I'm offended by lipstick marks on cups, glasses, clothing, cheeks or any other part of a victim's body. Simple solution: use 16 hour lipstick. My favorite is Cover Girl. I pick from among a multitude of colors that remain on my lips.
Next, I'd like to list simple advice for how to market my books. So far, the list looks like this:
1. ?
2. ?
3. ?
If only I could fill in THESE blanks!

The lettuce tip is spot on, Rolynn. I sell lettuce, and this is what I tell my CSA members.
I don't wear make-up very often, but I also hate mascara smudges.
Wish I held the secrets of book marketing.
Thanks, Ana. I hope it doesn't take as long to learn about marketing as it did to figure out the other stuff!
Fun post, Rolynn. i can never keep lipstick from disappearing on my lips so I gave up and don't wear it. The other two ideas are great for me. I do have a lettuce spinner. :) Your book sounds like fun. Good luck with it.
Great post, Rolynn. I have a to-go coffee mug that is stained with lipstick. So gross. Keeps anyone else from using it. Not all bad!
Glad I helped you out with the lettuce, Paisley. You can leave those leaves in the ice water for a long time, too. I hear at PF Changs they leave whole heads of lettuce in ice baths all evening long.
Brenda, you're right. Lipstick does stake out territory. Even some of my permanent stuff gets stuck on my toothbrush...I can tell it from my husband's!
Rolynn, love the tip because I just can't eat limp lettuce. When I wear lipstick, I use the long lasting kind too.
The marketing stuff is the forever unsolved puzzle to me. Even something as simple as Facebook and Twitter. What's enough and what's too much?
If you find out the answers to your marketing questions, Rolynn, please let me know!
Andi and Jerrie, we'll look for answers together. My editor can't believe SWOON isn't selling big...I mean, her belief in the book is wonderful: I feel I'm letting the book down by not marketing it well!
