I've always loved waterfalls. Standing near the spray brings a sense of balance—peace and tranquility.

Hooker Falls, Triple Falls and High Falls—sites for several
scenes in the movie, The Last of the Mohicans.
Having not seen the movie, I visited the library after returning home and checked out the DVD. Based on the American literary classic by James Fenimore Cooper, The Last of the Mohicans, staring Daniel Day-Lewis and Madeleine Stowe, is a love story destined by fate and tested by the ravishes of the French-Indian War. I loved the movie as much as visiting the falls. It was such fun to see the locations we visited in the forest as settings for the movie.
If you are ever in theAsheville
area, I recommend visiting the falls.
I've had a Native American paranormal romance brewing in the back of my mind for a while. After visiting the falls and watching the movie, I'm itching to start plotting.
Have you been inspired by a place you visited or a movie you've seen?

Hey, Dawn! I love waterfalls!!!
Love your pictures. Wonderful post! When I was in junior high school, I read Last of the Mohicans and fell in love with stories about Native Americans, mythologies, lore. Truly inspiring!
As to your question--A Howl for a Highlander is set in Grand Cayman Island, totally inspired by my trip there. And A Highland Wolf Wedding--the castle ruins of Dunnottar inspired much of the book. :) Most of my stories are set in places I've lived or visited.
Inspiring post, Dawn! Beautiful photos! Since I live near Asheville, I'm going to have to go hike to some of these waterfalls! Can't believe what I've been missing. As for inspiration, Scotland always inspires me. We visited Durness last year and it inspired me to set My Brave Highlander there.
Hi, Terry!
Just read Heart of the Highland Wolf. Loved the story. :)Looking forward to the next two stories.
Waterfalls are great. I have a waterfall love scene in Sea Panther, a Scottish inspired parnaormal romance I hope to find a publisher for.
Definitely hike to the falls, Vonda. I'll have to give you a yell the next time I visit my SIL in Asheville. BTW: Your Highlander stories are up next on my TBR list. Never enough hours in the day. *sigh*
I especially love the High Falls. We had the pleasure of visiting Niagara Falls from the Canadian side with our Swedish children. What a perfect day it was with the sun shining and a rainbow gracing the scene. Those falls are so remarkable. We also have Horseshoe Falls on the way from our place to Lake Tahoe. at certain times of the year they are so full and beautiful. My daughter used to call the smaller ones around here tinkles when she was little.
Thanks for sharing all these beautiful photos.
I love the name tinkles, Paisley. Niagara Falls are awe-inspiring. :)I'll have to remember to visit Horseshoe Falls the next time I visit my aunt in CA. :)
Thank you for the beautiful pictures, Dawn. I can't believe these falls are so closed and I've never visited. Now I now where to go next for vacation.
All my stories are set in places I visited. To Love A Hero in Belarus; French Peril in France; Osiris' Missing Part in Egypt; Her Greek Romance in Greece, etc...
Hi, Mona! Glad you liked the pictures. Isn't it fun to write about places you've visited? Many scenes in my unpubbed Highland Gardens (aka Garden Gate) Scottish time-travel series take place in the Blue Ridge Mountains in NC near Grandfather Mountain.
Great pics, Dawn. I watch LOTM every ding-dang year when I'm out on the boat. The setting is amazing and the story heart-rending. Thanks for the memories!
Thanks, Rolynn. When you watch LOTM next time, watch for the falls. :)
